Divine support and resistance changed the fate of Gaza war: Iran

TEHRAN – Iran’s national security chief, Saeed Jalili, called the victory of the Palestinian resistance movement against the Israeli army in the 22-war a “great victory”.
The main factors behind the victory were “divine help” and “resistance” by people and fighters, Jalili told Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Abdallah on Wednesday.“Today, the Zionist regime is in a much weaker position and its criminal nature has been revealed to the world’s public opinion,” explained Jalili, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary.
The security official insisted on a speedy reconstruction of Gaza and forming a united Palestinian front against the Israeli regime.
Ramadan said the Palestinian people are “very thankful” to Iran especially for its recent help to the residents of Gaza Strip as Israel launched a devastating and bloody war on the coastal strip.
The Jihad leader said Israel sought several goals in its blitz on Gaza but it achieved none of its aims due a severe resistance by people.
Instead the attack caused more “vigilance” and a pronouncement of “Islamic-Arab Ummah support” and hate for Israel in the world, the resistance leader commented.
He pointed to political activities of the Islamic resistance movement in post-Gaza war, saying, “Given the goals and expansionist policies of the Zionist regime, the Islamic resistance must keep its readiness for any confrontation.”
Israel’s three-week attack on Gaza which ended on January 18 brought about worldwide condemnation. About 1,300 Palestinian people, mostly children and women, were killed and more than 5000 injured.
Ultimate victory belongs to Palestinians
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in a separate meeting with Ramadan on Wednesday, said his country believes the Middle-East war will end with an eventual victory for the Palestinians.
According to Fars News Agency, Ahamdinejad described Palestinians’ victory in the 22-day Israeli onslaught against Gaza as a “source of pride and blessing for the Muslim world”, adding, “The great victory of Gazans struck a heavy blow on the enemies of Islam”.
Ahmadinejad said that the Zionist regime and its supporters are experiencing very hard conditions, and reiterated, “It is unlikely that they can solve their problems and issues. Today enemies despair of imposing the past conditions on the Islamic world again.”
“Preparedness is the biggest obstacle in the way of enemy’s assault therefore we should keep prepared until the enemy continues its animosity,” the Iranian president said.
Abdullah, for his part, lauded Iranian government and nation’s support for the Palestinian people and felicitated the 30th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution victory.
